The Van Brooks Scholarship provides four-year $4,000 ($1,000 each year) scholarships to graduating 8th grade students from Safe Alternative Foundation for Education (SAFE) entering into high school. The purpose of the Van Brooks Scholarship is to provide tuition assistance and defray other school related expenses that will hinder students from receiving a transformational high school experience.
Can be Applied to:
- Tuition
- Uniforms - summer, winter, gym
- School and gym shoes (if needed)
- Textbooks - used as available, new as necessary
- Tablet Fee - or any laptop, IT related fee
- Sports and/or club Fees
- Meals - lunch and breakfast
- Transportation - MTA bus passes, access to the school bus or carpool
- Field Trips
- Prom, dance tickets or other admission fees for social events
- Class pins, rings, and year books
Requirements:
- The student has been a participant of SAFE for at least two complete years
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Participate in service learning and volunteering opportunities at school
- Visit the SAFE Center one time per quarter (4x) during the academic year to speak with SAFE students
- Participate in one informal event of SAFE (ei: Bull Roast)
